What is the IDT program?
WSIB Ontario
The interdisciplinary team (IDT) care program is a community-based healthcare service designed for the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex musculoskeletal injuries. This may include post-surgical care, specialized treatment, and work hardening services. Work hardening consists of structured, goal-oriented treatment programs that incorporate real or simulated work activities to help individuals return to work. These programs may include customized exercise routines delivered in a rehabilitation space, supervised by a regulated health professional.
The program is provided by healthcare providers who have met the necessary qualifications through an open procurement process and secured a contract. It ensures a collaborative team approach, which includes at least a physiotherapist or chiropractor, along with an occupational therapist. Our aim is to offer accessible, local care that supports recovery and facilitates a timely, sustainable return
